Google Goggles- Google Visual Search
ByGoogle recently announced what they are calling Google Goggles. Some are calling it search by site or visual search. Today we can search in Google by typing in a text query or by speaking a search query for voice search.
Now, what if you were to take a picture with your mobile phone and submitted for search and the image showed up with the details of the image (object, restaurant who know what). Wouldn’t that be great. Someone could simply shoot a picture of something and get the information about it without doing any text or voice entry.
While this is pretty neat, it’s use is not as ubiquitous as text and voice search. Many buildings will be far too similar for recognition. However, don’t discount what the future holds for it’s long term success. For the short term it’s another great reason to have excellent images in your local business (and personal) profile. No reason not to be prepared!
